Heliconias grow easily and quickly and high, and if you want something that can give shadow they’re a great option. Compared to bamboo, they also don’t grow excessively and aren’t that hard to remove.

There are growing on an island in Thailand, in sandy soil, and they don’t require much maintenance and are very resilient.
The large leaves give a lot of shadow, and the colorful flowers themselves make them interesting to look at. It’s both decorative and useful in giving shade.
